OUR STORY
New Hope Community Church was founded in November 1892 as a place for people to come together to worship and hear the Word of God. We have served the Wharton community for over a century, striving to share the love of Christ with all who walk through our doors.
WHO WE ARE
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit, committed to Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Evangelism, and Ministry. Our goal is THE 120 PROJECT: 120 members filled with the Spirit, receiving and continuing in the Word, attending Bible study regularly, and supporting the church financially.

A. Charles Sterns
Pastor
He is a passionate, purposeful, and practical preacher of God's word and seeks to provide guidance to God's people.

Pastor Sterns credits his leadership skills to Pastor Donald G. Burgs Jr. where he served 3 years at the Alief Baptist Church in Houston/Katy area. Pastor Sterns has studied at the College of Biblical Studies and is a Veteran of the United States Army..

Pastor Sterns is a 24-year veteran with the Houston Police Department.
​
In January of 2005, Rev. Sterns was selected as Pastor of the New Hope Community Church, Wharton, Texas where he currently serves as Senior Pastor. Pastor Sterns has organized the WCPAC (Wharton County Pastors Against Crime) where Pastors in the Wharton County area builds a rapport with Law Enforcement agencies through collaboration.

Pastor Sterns resides in Sugar Land, Texas and he is a native of Wharton, Texas. He has been married for 32 years, to his wife Shelia and they have two sons, Andre and Adrian.
